Sequences, metadata and ASVs for the greenhouse and in situ soils from "Los Quintos de Mora" (Toledo, Spain) inside and outside herbivory exclusion zones

Description

This dataset includes raw fungal sequencing data (FASTQ), associated metadata, and the full ASV table derived from greenhouse and in situ soil samples collected inside and outside ungulate herbivory exclusion zones in "Los Quintos de Mora" (Toledo, Spain).

DNA was extracted using the NucleoSpin Soil kit and amplified for the ITS2 region. Sequencing was performed on an Illumina MiSeq platform. Sequence processing and ASV generation were carried out using QIIME2 (v2023.1) with DADA2. Taxonomic classification was done using the UNITE v9 database. Contaminants were filtered using the decontam package, and fungal ecological functions were assigned via the FungalTraits database.

These data are part of the study titled “Long-term grazing influences root-associated fungal communities in a common Mediterranean grass”, published in Plant and Soil DOI: 10.1007/s11104-025-07605-1.
