The Mass Distribution of the First Stars can be Determined via the 21-cm Signal (supplementary inference products)
Creators
Description
These are the nested sampling inference products created as part of "The Mass Distribution of the First Stars can be Determined via the 21-cm Signal". They form the basis of the analysis presented in that work forecasting the potential constraints on the Pop III IMF from 21-cm signal experiments. All the included chains were computed using PolyChordLite . Please consult the original paper for details of the parameters, likelihoods, and priors used.
We split the chains by experiment and sensitivity into 9 folders:
- REACH_250mK: Global 21-cm signal measurement at 250 mK sensitivity
- REACH_25mK: Global 21-cm signal measurement at 25 mK sensitivity
- REACH_5mK: Global 21-cm signal measurement at 5 mK sensitivity
- SKA_Low_300h: 300 hours of 21-cm power spectrum measurements by SKA-Low
- SKA_Low_1000h: 1000 hours of 21-cm power spectrum measurements by SKA-Low
- SKA_Low_3000h: 3000 hours of 21-cm power spectrum measurements by SKA-Low
- Joint_Pessimistic: Joint analysis of REACH_250mK and SKA_Low_300h
- Joint_Moderate: Joint analysis of REACH_25mK and SKA_Low_1000h
- Joint_Optimisitic: Joint analysis of REACH_5mK and SKA_Low_3000h
Within each folder are 36 sets of chains (each in its own subfolder), one for every combination of the 'true' IMF used to generate the synthetic measurement data and the 'model' IMF used in the fit to the synthetic data (six IMFs were considered in this study). The subfolders of the sets of chains follow the naming format:
{observable}_true_sartorio_pop_III_{true-imf-code}_model_sartorio_pop_III_{model-imf-code}
where the observable field is global
for REACH chains, power
for SKA_Low chains, and both
for Joint chains. The IMF codes specify the three parameters of the truncated power-law IMF in the form {Mmin}_{Mmax}_{alphaIII}
. Hence, the mapping between the IMF names in the paper and these codes is:
- Sal:
0.8_250_2.35
- Int-2:
2_180_2
- Int-1:
2_180_1
- Int-0.5:
2_180_0.5
- Int-0:
2_180_0
- Top:
10_500_0
Within each subfolder, the corresponding chains rootname is the same as the subfolder name but without the observable field, e.g.,
true_sartorio_pop_III_{true-imf-code}_model_sartorio_pop_III_{model-imf-code}
