A hundredth Neotropical species of the genus Tanytarsus van der Wulp (Chironomidae, Diptera) from Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil

Description

Tanytarsus centesimus sp. nov. is the hundredth Neotropical species of the genus Tanytarsus van der Wulp, 1874, here described from the easternmost land of South America. The peculiar adult male has its genital apparatus bearing large spinulae, and strongly elongated median volsellae. The new species is compared with members of the Tanytarsus marauia group, here defined as close relatives
