IMPACT OF COMPUTER-ASSISTED INSTRUCTION (CAI) TO THE BSED-SCIENCE STUDENTS' ENGAGEMENT AND LEARNING EXPERIENCES AMIDST COVID-19 PANDEMIC

This study determined the impact of Computer-Assisted Instruction (CAI) to students’ learning experiences and engagement amidst COVID-19. A descriptive research method was utilized. It was revealed that CAI tools improves teacher-student communication and the students’ learning outcome. There was a significant difference in students’ learning experiences in terms of Faculty-Student interaction, Student-content, and Student Character when grouped according to Year Level and Age. In Faculty-Student Interaction, the learning experiences of 3rd year students and from age bracket of 18-20 significantly differs from 1st and 2nd year and from 21 and above age group, respectively. In terms of Student-Content, students from age group of 18-20 significantly differs from the students that falls under 21 and above. In Student Character, the learning experiences of 1st and 2nd year and from 18-20 age group are better than those of the 3rd year students and from age group of 21 and above, respectively. Additionally, there were also significant differences in the students’ engagement when grouped according to Year Level and Age. The study recommends conducting CAI Training Programs to further capacitate the instructors, as well as students, to improve the teaching-learning process despite the implementation of Distance Learning due to COVID-19.
