Additional animations for preprint "Oceanic gateways to Antarctic grounding lines – Impact of critical access depths on sub-shelf melt"

Description

This archive contains two animations, that the authors of the manuscript titled "Oceanic gateways to Antarctic grounding lines - Impact of critical access depths on sub-shelf melt" (doi: 10.5194/egusphere-2023-2583) want to make available during the peer-review process.

Nicola-et-al_AccessDepth_flood-fill_2D-field.mp4 shows how the flood-fill iteratively fills cells on the continental shelf. The grounding line of the continental ice sheet is depicted with a magenta line. Once the flood-fill reaches the grounding line, this portion of the grounding line switches to lime-green. At the top, the fraction of filled grounding line cells to total grounding line (ratio lime-green to magenta) is displayed. This percentage is similar to variable "g" in the submitted manuscript.

Nicola-et-al_AccessDepth_flood-fill_transect_ross.mp4 provides a transect view into the Ross ice-shelf cavity highlighting how the flood-fill reaches the grounding line near Mercer Ice Stream.
