Description

3D model of an iron blade from a wooden shovel or spade. Very few intact artefacts were found during the excavation. Anything in good shape or for indoor use was almost certainly utilised at the farm once the monastery had closed. Nonetheless, this square shaped blade, which is the cutting edge of a wooden shovel or spade, was found. It may have been used for work in the cloister garden or for digging graves. Measures at 15 x 11 x 0,5 cm. Physical object held at the National Museum of Iceland nr:: 2003-36-673. Found 14/ 8/ 2003, found & logged by CC https://sarpur.is/Adfang.aspx?AdfangID=1950393 Part of the Skriðuklaustur Monastery 1550 reconstruction.
