Description
The Physical Vulnerability Database for Critical Infrastructure Hazard Risk Assements is a database that contains fragility and vulnerability curves that can be used to evaluate the expected or potential damages to infrastructure assets due to flooding, earthquakes, windstorms and landslides. The database consists of three Excel-spreadsheets:
- Table_D1_Summary_CI_Vulnerability_Data: summary table with information on hazard, exposure, and vulnerability characteristics as well as a number of details regarding reliability and reference purposes.
- Table_D2_Hazard_Fragility_and_Vulnerability Curves: collection of fragility and vulnerability curves
- Table_D3_Costs: cost values that can be used in combination with the curves for the estimation of asset damages

New Dataset Release: Updated Physical Vulnerability Database for Critical Infrastructure Hazard Risk Assessments (Version 1.1.0)
We are excited to announce the release of Version 1.1.0 of our Physical Vulnerability Database for Critical Infrastructure Hazard Risk Assessments. This updated version incorporates several improvements, corrections, and additions to enhance the accuracy and usability of the data. A detailed list of these updates can be found below.
General Updates (All Files):
- Revised details under the ‘General Info’ tab.
Table_D1_Summary_CI_Vulnerability_Data_V1.1.0:
- Changed the label ‘intensity metric’ to ‘intensity measure.’
- Updated information in the ‘Readily available’ column.
- Added fragility and vulnerability curves from McKenna et al. (2021), Tsubaki et al. (2016), and Argyroudis et al. (2018). Please refer to the database for full citations. Curve numbers have been updated accordingly to align with the manuscript.
- Added preconditions in the ‘Additional characteristics’ column.
Table_D2_Multi-Hazard_Fragility_and_Vulnerability_Curves_V1.1.0:
- Removed ‘(upper boundary)’ and ‘(lower boundary)’ from ID numbers.
- Added vulnerability curves from McKenna et al. (2021), Tsubaki et al. (2016), and Argyroudis et al. (2018). Full references are available in the database. Curve numbers have been updated accordingly to align with the manuscript.
- Correction of curves F2.1-3.
- For E16.24 in E_Vuln_PGA: updated the header from ‘Damage factor’ to ‘Repair rate.’
- For F2.1-3 in F_Vuln_Depth: adjusted the damage factor in the last row.
- For F21.3b in F_Vuln_Depth: Adjusted values slightly exceeding 1 to 1.
- For L7.32b and L7.33b in L_Vuln_Area: corrected damage factors.
- For W7.2: updated subheading from ‘Physical damage probability’ to ‘Damage factor.’
Table_D3_Costs_V1.1.0:
- Revised the ‘Infrastructure description’ column to use singular terms.
- Added cost ID numbers.
- Corrected ‘Infrastructure description’ of row 78.
- Added ‘amount’ for cost ID number 66.
