iRead4Skills - Annotation Manual

  • 1. ROR icon Universidade Nova de Lisboa

Description

The iRead4Skills project takes a bottom-up approach in which the end-users (adults with low literacy skills and trainers) are directly involved in the development of the solution. This includes the i) the classification of texts according to the relevant scale determined, and the ii) the annotation of texts' parts (words, phrases, sentences) that the end-user find complex.

For these reasons, the annotation guidelines presented here target two specific audiences, trainers and students, and aim at making the task as intuitive and user-friendly as possible.

No specialized terminology will be used, nor will large explanations be provided. French, Portuguese and Spanish versions of the instructions in this manual will be produced to accompany the task (via web-based survey).

More information concerning the annotation task will be provided to the Adult Learning (AL) and Vocational Educational Training (VET) centre's trainers and teachers that will monitor and aid the task.
