Zenodo Community Curation Policy for QUANTUM
1. Purpose
This curation policy ensures that all submissions to the QUANTUM Zenodo community meet the standards of quality, relevance, and compliance with EU research guidelines.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all members of the QUANTUM community who wish to deposit research outputs, including but not limited to articles, datasets, software, presentations, and reports.
3. Submission Criteria
- Relevance: Submissions must be directly related to the objectives and scope of the QUANTUM research project.
- Quality: All submissions should be of high academic and technical quality, including proper formatting, clear language, and accurate data.
- Compliance: Submissions must comply with EU research guidelines, including ethical standards, data protection regulations, and open access policies.
4. Review Process
- Initial Screening: The curation team (i.e., the project's coordination team) will initially screen all submissions to ensure they meet the essential submission criteria.
- Peer Review: Selected submissions may be subject to peer review by experts in the field to ensure the quality and relevance of the content.
- Feedback: Authors may receive feedback and be asked to make revisions before final acceptance.
5. Metadata Requirements
- Descriptive Metadata: Submissions must include comprehensive metadata, including title, authors/creators, abstract, keywords, and funding information.
- The Title must be informative beyond the functional or organizational requirements of the project, for example 'Deliverable 1.1' will not be considered acceptable and instead 'D1.1.: Descriptive title' will be promoted.
- Authors/creators should be included in the preferred order including information on their current affiliation and, when possible, their ORCID ID.
- All registries should include a Description that can be fulfilled with the abstract of the document or with an executive summary stating its aim, its scope and its utility in a simple way as to inform anyone on its potential reuse.
- Keywords can be selected from the pop-up search menu or proposed by the creators.
- Funding information related to the QUANTUM project can be copy-pasted from this communities 'About' section or can be retrieved from the CORDIS portal.
- Additional notes can be included in the registry as to comment on terms of use or liabilities that may apply.
- You can tag any other communities suitable to host your registry appart from this QUANTUM project community, thus adhering to their curation and management policies.
- Licensing: Authors must specify the licensing terms for their submissions, preferably using open licenses such as Creative Commons.
- In case of documents, milestones, deliverables and presentations we recommend you to use the CC-BY 4.0 International or the CC-BY-SA 4.0 International (if you want to facilitate reuse but restrict derived content).
- In case of software, we recommend you to use the CC-BY-NC 4.0 International to restrict commercial uses of your software or tool, although any other open source license will be accepted.
6. Data Management
- Data Accessibility: All datasets should be accompanied by a data management plan in a standard format and be accessible following FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles.
- We recommend the use of the Argos EU - OpenAire online tool, following the CHIST-ERA version 2.0.0 blueprint, or other Research Data Alliance (RDA) compatible blueprint.
- Data Privacy: Submissions must ensure the privacy and confidentiality of any personal data included in the research.
7. Preservation and Access
- Long-term Preservation: Zenodo ensures the long-term preservation of all submissions. Authors must provide persistent identifiers (e.g., DOIs) for their work.
- Zenodo will provide a DOI to any new registry (plus a DOI for the project if a registry has more than one version).
- We recommend using SemVer.org version 2.0.0 standard for versioning.
- Open Access: Submissions should be made openly accessible to the public, per the EU's open access policies.
8. Rights and Responsibilities
- Author Rights: Authors retain the rights to their work and are responsible for ensuring that their submissions do not infringe on the rights of others.
- Community Rights: The QUANTUM community reserves the right to reject submissions that do not meet the curation policy criteria.
