This community area contains data from the Horizon 2020 PHOENIX project.
The H2020 PHOENIX project subtitled: Participation in Holistic Environmental/Ecological Innovations, consists of a group of practitioners in Democratic Innovations (DI) that has already walk a long road together, forging a common forward-looking spirit and a precise commitment to improve the quality of our democracies.
In the past, through action, research, and experiments we have observed and supported many committed public authorities in building and consolidating participatory and deliberative practices. We want to test our trust and commitment to our common path by facing our greatest challenge yet: the European Green Deal (EGD). Armed with our toolbox of DI methods and techniques, can we rise up to the task of assisting such a continental-wide, epochal transformation?
The project received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No.101037328
The project is running since 1 February 2022.
The community is administered by the Centre for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra (CES) and the University of Groningen (RUG).
About the project:
Citizen engagement is vital in the transition towards a climate-neutral society. The EU-funded PHOENIX project will develop a process to increase the transformative potential of democratic innovations to address particular areas of the European Green Deal. It will tailor and test enriched democratic innovations in 11 pilots in 7 countries at different administrative scales and within a wide range of socio-cultural and environmental contexts. The project will also support the mainstreaming, scalability and adaptability of the tested methodologies. Particular attention will be dedicated to the measures of the Just Transition Fund, considering that incentives and compensations are very concrete issues which can help maximise citizens' commitment to a climate-neutral society.
