A pair of benchmark cases based on the configuration of “phase inversion” between two immiscible liquids are proposed. These benchmark cases aim at progressing towards the direct numerical simulation (DNS) of two-phase flow. Several computational fluid dynamic (CFD) codes  using either Volume-of-Fluid,  Level-Set or other interface tracking methods such as Front-Tracking will be used to provide runs of the benchmark cases, convergence studies and comparisons to reference cases.
