📘 About Open Heritage Press

Open Heritage Press is an open-access academic publishing initiative supported by the Maya Heritage Center (USA). Our mission is to publish, preserve, and disseminate scholarly and community-rooted works focused on the defense and celebration of Indigenous rights, environmental and energy justice, cultural heritage, and plural legal traditions throughout Latin America and the Global South.

We promote rigorous, transdisciplinary, and socially engaged research—prioritizing authors, educators, and researchers working at the intersection of human rights, sustainability, intercultural education, and decolonial methodologies.

Open Heritage Press publishes:

  • Academic books and essays

  • Community education manuals

  • Legal and human rights reports

  • Indigenous language documentation

  • Interdisciplinary and collaborative research outputs

All works are published under open-access licenses (Creative Commons) and assigned DOIs to ensure global visibility, citation, and preservation.

The editorial team includes scholars affiliated with institutions in Mexico, the United States, Morocco, and beyond.
