Handling of research data
When publishing research data, also consider subject-based research data repositories that can be found in the subject-based directory of re3data.org (Registry of Research Data Repositories).
For creating data management plans, tools such as RDMO can be useful. For further information, see Research Data LMU.
Citation standards and licenses
Using standardized citation ensures proper recognition of authors as well as permanent identification through global, persistent identifiers instead of URLs.
Zenodo supports the use of persistent identifiers:
- DOI: used for identifying digital research outputs
- ORCID: used for identifying authors/creators (Note: researchers create and update their own profiles.)
- ROR: used for identifying affiliations (e.g. https://ror.org/05591te55 for Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München)
To ensure reusability and legal clarity, all materials should be released under an open license. Zenodo supports a variety of Creative Commons (CC) licenses. The use of the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) or Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA 4.0) license allow sharing and adaptation of a work while ensuring that the original creators receive proper credit and, in the case of CC BY-SA 4.0, that derivative works remain openly licensed.
