This community is aimed at showcasing the research an innovation activities carried out at the Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria y Biomédica de Alicante (ISABIAL), which comprises more than 40 research groups and in excess of 500 researchers at the Hospital General Universitario Dr Balmis (Alicante, Spain), which is a top category hospital and the largest in the province of Alicante; and at the two public universities of the regiona: the Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche and Universidad de Alicante. ISABIAL was established as a multidisciplinary, translational biomedical research space oriented towards basic, clinical, epidemiological and health services research. The Institute contributes to increasing the quality of biomedical research conducted in Alicante by forming associations between the research groups and researchers at the entities comprising it. ISABIAL’s objective is to consolidate itself as an integrated research centre, helping to transform the main regional socioeconomic model revolving around R&D&i in biomedicine, health services, and public health.
