IMPaCT-Data is the IMPaCT program that seeks to support the development of a common, interoperable and integrated system for the collection and analysis of clinical and molecular data, contributing the knowledge and resources available in the Spanish Science and Technology System. This development will allow answering research questions from the different clinical and molecular information systems available. Fundamentally, it seeks to provide researchers with a population perspective based on individual data.

IMPaCT-Data focuses on developing an environment for data analysis and integration. It proposes a life cycle of testing, evaluating and implementing computational systems in healthcare settings.

IMPaCT-Data aims to seed the infrastructure for secondary use of data from the Spanish healthcare systems - electronic health records, medical imaging and genomic repositories- and contribute with the knowledge and methodology  produced to the healthcare system.

The main objective is to develop the first iteration of the infrastructure and protocols necessary to coordinate, integrate, manage and analyze clinical data, including medical imaging and genomic information, so that it is possible to implement Personalized Medicine in an effective and coordinated manner in the different health care systems. This objective is decomposed in the following technical objectives:

  1. Development of the first iteration of a federated data platform for biomedical data.

  2. Development of the first version of a computational infrastructure on the cloud supporting IMPaCT.

  3. Development of protocols, methods and integrated systems for data analysis, including FAIRification.

  4. Initial development to monitor data quality treatment and evaluation processes

  5. Initial development for the (semi)automatic and secure extraction of information from health information systems, including Electronic Health Record (EHR).

  6. Incorporation of genetic and genomic information.

  7. Lead the bioinformatic resources portfolio offered by Spain to ELIXIR.

  8. Extraction of quantitative information from medical images.

  9. Development of prototypes to integrate genomic analysis, imaging and EHR.

  10. Implementation of demonstrators on advanced functions of translational information interoperability.

  11. Arranged evaluation and execution of management demonstrators, in collaboration with the TransBioNet network and other Spanish healthcare system stakeholders.

IMPaCT program's mission is to establish the pillars to facilitate the effective deployment of Precision Medicine in the National Health System, ensuring scientific-technical quality, equity and efficiency in the use of available scientific resources to respond to the needs of the citizenship.

The project IMPaCT-Data (Exp. IMP/00019) has been funded by the Institute of Health Carlos III, co-funded by the European Union, European Regional Development Fund (ERDF, “A way to make Europe”).
