The European Benchmarking Task Force is an inter-project initiative that was established during the 7th EU framework programme. It's aim is to foster quality, tranparency, and comparability of techno-economic studies that are undertaken in the field of CO2 capture, utilisation, transport, and storage (CCUTS).
When established, it involved the EU FP7 projects Decarbit, Caesar, and Cesar, that were all focused on the development of different, new, CO2 capture technologies and their benchmarking to incumbent technologies. As the work on techno-economic assessment and benchmarking of CCUTS has progressed through recent projects, the EBTF is now an unofficial network of European research institutes and universities that aim to harmonize, align, and continuously improve the quality, transparency, and comparability of techno-economic assessment of CCUTS technologies and systems.
Partners include (in alphabetical order, and not exhaustively) ECN, ETH Zürich, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Politecnico di Milano, Sintef energy research, The Netherlands organisation for applied scientific research (TNO), and Utrecht University. The partners are active in the EU H2020 and the ERA-NET ACT projects Octavius, Stepwise, Fresme, Elegancy, Align, and GasTech.
