The Brazilian Conference on Software: Practice and Theory (CBSoft) is an event annually promoted by the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC) aiming at fostering the exchange of experience among researchers and practitioners from industry and academia about the most recent research, tendencies, and theoretical and practical innovations on software. Held since 2010 as an aggregating conference of Brazilian symposia promoted by SBC on software, CBSoft has become one of the main conferences of the Brazilian scientific community on Computing.
In 2020, the 11th edition of CBSoft is held, for the first time, in a virtual format on October 19-23, 2020. It integrates four traditional symposia annually promoted by the Brazilian community on Software Engineering:
- the 34th Brazilian Symposium on Software Engineering (SBES), the premier conference on Software Engineering in Latin America;
- the 14th Brazilian Symposium on Software Components, Architectures, and Reuse (SBCARS), which aggregates topics such as software product lines, component-based software development, software architectures, and reuse;
- the 24th Brazilian Symposium on Programming Languages (SBLP), which focuses on the theoretical and practical study of programming languages; and
- the 5th Brazilian Symposium on Systematic Automated Software Testing (SAST), which is about issues related to the systematization and automation of the software testing activity.
Besides these main symposia, the CBSoft 2020 program features:
- the first edition of the Undergraduate Research on Software Engineering Competition (CTIC-ES), which selects three excellent works developed by undergraduate students;
- the first edition of the Software Engineering Doctoral and Master Thesis Competition (CTD-ES), which aims to disseminate and award the best three Doctoral theses and Master's theses in Software Engineering that were concluded, presented, and approved in Brazil in 2019;
- the Industry Track, which aims to bring together professionals from academia, industry, and government to share their knowledge and experiences with the public;
- the 10th CBSoft's Workshop on Theses and Dissertations (WTDSoft), which is dedicated to the presentation and discussion of Master's and PhD work in progress on Software Engineering and Programming Languages;
- the 2nd Workshop on Modeling and Simulation of Software-Intensive Systems (MSSiS 2020), which fosters the discussion of the possible synergies between the modeling and simulation paradigms for Software Engineering, as well as Model-Based Software Engineering approaches for dynamic models; and
- the 8th Workshop on Software Visualization, Evolution and Maintenance (VEM 2020), which aims at bringing together the research communities interested in topics related to Software Visualization, Software Evolution, and Software Maintenance to share and discuss ideas, reflecting on alternatives to perform visualization, evolution, and maintenance of software systems.
