Bacterial Osmoregulation: A Paradigm for the Study of Cellular Homeostasis

Osmosensory transporters and mechanosensitive channels play central roles in cellular osmoregulatory responses. The ways in which those transporters and channels respond to physical and chemical stimuli, in vivo and in vitro, llustrate how cellular processes respond to changes in the intracellular milieu.
