NASA’s Open-Source Science Initiative (OSSI) supports the adoption and sustainment of open science practices across the Science Mission Directorate (SMD) to increase the accessibility, inclusivity, and reproducibility of NASA science. This initiative includes several cross-divisional solicitations to support open-source science activities offered through NASA Research Opportunities in Earth and Space Sciences (ROSES). We will highlight solicitations for proposals to advance open science in heliophysics or cross-disciplinary proposals to include additional SMD divisions. Some programs support the development of new open-source tools, software, frameworks, data formats, and libraries to streamline the sharing of scientific information (F.15 High Priority Open-Source Science) and the maintenance of existing tools with significant value to the SMD community (F.7 Support for Open Source Tools, Frameworks and Libraries). Investigators who already have current ROSES funding may submit proposals for supplemental awards to add an open science component to an existing award (F.8 Supplements for Open-Source Science) or to obtain support for cloud computing (F.16 Supplement for Scientific Software Platforms). We will also highlight an upcoming solicitation to support proposals for open science events (Topical Workshops, Symposia, and Conferences) and a recently solicited program that supports open science curriculum development and capacity building efforts (F.14 Transform to Open Science Training). Finally, we will highlight resources that support ROSES proposers in incorporating open science practices into their proposals, including a guide to SMD’s requirements for open science and templates for developing a proposal Open Science and Data Management Plan (OSDMP).
