Pharmaceutical Fragrance Formulation and Development Using Herbal Ingredients

majority of commercial perfume include chemicals and synthetic ingredients that may be irritating
or even damaging to the skin or may be cause serious illness. Herbal products have a double objective:
first, as cosmetics for body care; second, as a means for maintaining naturally healthy skin due to the
presence of photochemical and botanical ingredients. There has been a recent increase in interest in
herbalism and the use of herbal remedies. Indian herbs are the most widely used in the cosmetics and
fragrances industries. Herbal products are becoming more popular throughout the globe as more people
learn about their health advantages as well as cost –effectiveness.
So, In this research, we used the solvent extraction technique to create a essential oil. In order to make
herbal perfume namely (P-1, P-2, P-3), Rose Petal & Tuberose flowers, Palm grass, Pine wood and
Tobacco leaves was used, and the these extracted oil were afterwards combined for the preparation of
perfume. After completion of the herbal formulation, it was tested for its colour, odour, pH test,
Irritancy, absorption and spreadability and many other. Various study found that, these herbal plant
essential oil proven to possess various pharmacological properties. The findings for the manufactured
herbal perfume reveal that these perfume are cost-effective, convenient, produces a pleasant scent upon
application, and does not cause any skin irritation.
