Description

These BSE images are part of an future book chapter on carbonate diagenesis and its effect on the rock-internal carbon isotope composition. The BSE images are produced at the Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin (Germany) with a Jeol JSM-6610LV SEM and an 15.0 kV beam acceleration as the operating condition. An automatized protocol took images along a grid that covered the whole surface of the polished rock slab (~5 by 5 cm). The resulting images are therefore a compilation of multiple individual BSE images linked together. The samples are taken from a limestone sequence that covers the Permian–Triassic transition, the outcrop is situated in NW Iran near the town of Zal (38°73.30 N, 45°58.00 E).
