Thermoelectric Dehumidifier for Sensor Cleaning

Description

In this study, a dry and oil-free air system is developed using easily accessible commercial off-the-shelf components, streamlining the manufacturing process. The significance of this system lies in its ability to prevent contaminants in the air from leaving volatile residues that could potentially harm circuits and disrupt sensor accuracy. The system comprises three key stages: Firstly, dehumidification is achieved through the use of Thermo Electric Coolers with four Peltier modules, efficiently lowering air temperature below the dew point and converting humidity into drained water, resulting in the production of dry air while consuming 300 Watts. Secondly, air compression is facilitated by a double-cylinder air compressor, initially consuming 220 Watts (12V, 18.3A), with the potential to reduce power consumption to 100 Watts while delivering 5 bar dry air at a rate of 50 L/min. Lastly, a high-pressure coalescing filter is employed for oil removal, ensuring that air properties remain largely unchanged while meeting specified requirements. This innovative system offers a reliable solution for obtaining clean, dry air in various applications.
