  • Speakers mark different levels of discourse structure with pauses of different durations [1-2] and with intonational features spanning units bigger than utterance level [3] 
  • Similarly, in sign languages, discourse structure is signaled by pauses [4-5], head nods [6], eyegaze [7-8], eyeblinks [9], and facial expressions [10]
