Pysersic: A Python package for determining galaxy structural properties via Bayesian inference, accelerated with jax
Description
pysersic is an open source tool for fitting sersic profiles (and other parametric profiles) to galaxy images, allowing for the extraction of standard morphological parameters (e.g., effective radius, sersic index, total flux). The key advantage of pysersic is the ability to fit using a Bayesian framework, allowing for posterior distributions to be explored, while maintaining short runtimes by using autodifferentiation-enabled libraries (e.g., jax) to both enable highly efficient sampling algorithms and to move calculations to GPUs if available. This archive version is associated with the JOSS publication of this software.
