Opportunities and Limitations of a Disciplinary Repository Using the Example MO|RE Data (eResearch Infrastructure for Motor Research Data)

Two funding periods by the German Research Foundation have resulted in the first disciplinary repository for motor activity research data in sports science - MO|RE data. MO|RE data is aimed at sport scientists, researchers in related disciplines and practitioners such as teachers and educators who also work with or generate human motor performance test data. It has five main functions: publishing, storing, searching, citing and mapping. There are still some limitations and untapped opportunities. Opportunities include international expansion. Limitations include the difficulty of linking health and human performance test data due to data protection laws. The sharing of sensitive data is not possible with the current concept and requires further solutions such as remote access or workstations for visiting researchers. In the future, these datasets need to be considered in order to meet the needs of research data management in sport science. Overall, there is a need for further development and optimisation of the MO|RE data repository to maximise its potential and ensure that it meets the evolving needs of researchers in the field.
