New European Bauhaus: Establishing a European Academy for skills in biobased materials and circular economy towards a sustainable construction sector
Description
The twin green and digital transformation of the built environment is an enormous opportunity to create sustainable employment in urban and rural areas. A key lever to decarbonising Europe’s economy and fight climate change will therefore be a massive acceleration of up- and reskilling of the future workforce, to support the transition to a carbon-neutral, resilient domestic construction sector in Europe.
The ambition of the New European Bauhaus Academy (NEBA) is to establish an open, international Community of Practice that collects and provides access to the latest available knowledge and trainings in sustainable biobased materials, circular building systems and digital solutions. The NEB Academy is set to lead the skills development actions required for the Renovation Wave by engaging all major target groups in construction, engineering, architecture and planning, and by connecting educators and trainers who will facilitate the widest possible rollout in the entire construction ecosystem.
The concept work for the NEB Academy is supported by the digiNEB.eu project from 2022-2024 coordinated by TU Delft, with funding from the EU’s Digital Europe Programme under Grant Agreement no. 101083743
