Hozirgi kunda dunyo aholisining 35% dan ortigʻi bugʻdoy bilan oziqlanadi, unga non bugʻdoy va uning qarindoshlari kiradi. Bugʻdoy “neolit inqilobi” dan boshlab 10 000 yildan ortiq vaqt davomida yetishtirilgan va unumdor yarim oyda paydo boʻlgan eng qadimgi ekinlardan biridir. [1] Ushbu maqolada bugʻdoy oʻsimligining kelib chiqishi, biologik xususiyatlari va  uning dunyo boʻylab tarqalishi haqida ma’lumot berilgan.
