Literature is the reflection of a society. It represents the social, political, cultural, economic and historical growth of a society at a great length. The word Milieu is defined as the people and the physical and social conditions and events that provide a background in which someone acts or lives. Social Milieu is a social environment. It refers to the physical and social setting in which people live or in which things happen or develop. In literature, this is a term that can comprehend a wide variety of aspects of a story. There are many writers in Indian English literature who depicted contemporary issues. Shashi Tharoor, Amish Tripathi, Chetan Bhagat, Arvind Adiga have presented different unconventional themes with pioneering techniques. Sudha Murthy is one of them. She is a very well-known modern Indian writer with a prolific writing. In her writing, she found the impact of tradition and technology on Indian society with a very good expression. She has always been an advocate of women’s rights and a pioneer in the development of education. She believes that if we chose the less travelled path, it makes us different in the life. She works for the betterment of the society, and made the development of the people from rural area. Her writing is related to the lives of common people. She wrote on different issues like her views on donations and charity, hospitality, her childhood, realizing and traveling experiences.
