İRAN'DA YAŞAYAN AZERBAYCAN TÜRKLERİ VE AZERBAYCAN-İRAN İLİŞKİLERİNE ETKİLERİ

Iran and history of Iran are two topics which require extensive amount of research and analysis. What makes studying these topics crucial is the effect that Iran has had politically and culturally on other countries because of its historical changes
and geopolitical position. The same can be said for Azerbaijani Turks who live in Iran and Iran-Azerbaijan diplomatic relationships. Taking into consideration that studies about Iran is to bring some novelty to the field work, the topics of Iran’s
historical change, the effect of the Shia on forming its identity and historical phases are covered in this study. After giving information about the history of Iran, the subjects of Iran’s current governmental regime and position of Azerbaijani Turks,
who are one of the important groups living in Iran, are examined. In the last chapter, Iran-Azerbaijan relationships are investigated with the point of view of Azerbaijani Turks who live in the North of Iran and main problems are revealed. In short, this study aims to touch upon the current position of Azerbaijani Turks who live in Iran by examining the historical process of the relationships between Iran and Azerbaijan.
