3rd Annual General Meeting of ENETWILD Brussels - 24-25th May 2023
Description
The 3rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Brussels in May 2023 brought together experts and stakeholders specializing in wildlife health, ecology, and management to share developments and best practices in wildlife monitoring and management. The AGM focused on establishing a harmonized framework for international decision-making and addressing the lack of comprehensive wildlife monitoring plans in Europe. During the Working Group Sessions, participants were divided into four groups to address specific objectives related to harmonized wildlife monitoring. The approach aimed to ensure representation of different expertise and background of the stakeholders and foster collaboration among them. The outcomes of these sessions highlighted key gaps and challenges, including lack of standardization, data fragmentation, and limited long-term monitoring. It was recommended promoting successful initiatives, engaging multiple stakeholders, establishing a European Working Group on integrated wildlife management that incorporate emerging technologies to address those gaps. By following these recommendations, the development of a comprehensive framework for harmonized wildlife monitoring in Europe can be advanced, contributing to conservation efforts, preserving biodiversity, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of wildlife populations
