The aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark Algarvensis O aspirante Algarvensis a Geoparque Mundial da UNESCO

Located in the most southwestern region of Europe, the aspiring Geopark Algarvensis is an inspiring territory that aims to contribute to greater social and territorial cohesion of three municipalities, Loulé, Silves and Albufeira, through valuing the territory, based on UNESCO Geopark concept, with the support of the University of Algarve. This is an integrative project that promotes greater appreciation and promotion of heritage local and regional at an international level, intending above all to contribute to the preservation of its geological and cultural heritage. Its mission is to promote, protect and  enhance the natural and cultural heritage, highlighting the geological heritage, through the creation of scientific and educational knowledge, in order to provide socio-economic development and
sustainable development of the territory, settling people and promoting their quality of life.
