Description
The accumulation of sodium and sulfate ions in soils are the main cause of osmotic stress, which dramatically condition plant growth and production. Saline and gypsic soils have thus been preferentially exploited for mineral extraction, but these soils may also be a
source of new bioinoculants to relieve the osmotic stress in crops. These environments are generally characterized by low diversity of plant and microbial species, but here we can find well-adapted microbiota that may be able to interact with plants to deal with different
environmental stresses.
