Description
About 22 million people in Ghana use firewood which impedes that realisation of the targets for sdg 7& 12. The country accounts for 16,000 deaths per year due to HAP and ambient air pollution, this statistics are not encouraging figures for the sdg 3. Within the last two decades, the predominant use of firewood has resulted in about 1.53Mha of tree cover loss, 22% reduction in forest resources, biodiversity displacement and 843Mt Coe emissions (sdg 13& sdg15). On a gender empowerment and economic developmental issues (sdg 5&8), women and children use10 h/week for wood collection, this cost the world about USD 0.8 trillion due to loss of productivity.
