OpenCitations, an Open Science infrastructure on the way towards sustainability

  • 1. University of Bologna

Description

Poster presented at EGI 2023 conference (Poznàn, 19-23 June 2023).

OpenCitations is a community-based infrastructure organization dedicated to the publication of open citation data. For OpenCitations, ‘open’ is a value and a mission, and its services are free and open. OpenCitations sustains its activities thanks to the support from its members and donors, time-granted income from funding agencies including the European Union, and in-kind support from the University of Bologna. OpenCitations is still seeking a sustainable financial model, and the guidance and effort from the community are fundamental in this process. The community itself is already involved in OpenCitations’ existence both in a financial and strategical way, but OC seeks a wider engagement with the scholarly actors to work together in the creation of a more equal and open research environment, of which the free provision of citation data is a fundamental part.
