Comparative study of Low-Temperature Stellar Opacities for different Solar Mixtures
Description
Stellar Opacities are a crucial factor in determining the structure, evolution and observable properties of stars. Hence, we conduct a comparative study of the impact of low-temperature opacities in stellar models using two widely used opacity calculations, ones given by Jason Ferguson (Ferguson et al. 2005) and the others worked out using ÆSOPUS (http://stev.oapd.inaf.it/cgi-bin/aesopus) (Marigo & Aringer, 2009 and Marigo et al. 2022). We consider three different photospheric initial chemical compositions: Grevesse & Sauval, 1998 (GS98), Asplund et al. 2009 (AGSS09) and Magg et al. 2022 (MB22). For the study, first, we overview the intrinsic differences between the opacity calculations. Then, using GARSTEC and calibrating a solar model for each case, we analyze the differences in the evolutionary tracks of 1M solar-like models relevant to the PLATO Core Program, from the Main Sequence, Sub-Giant Branch and up to the Red-Giant Branch.
