Open Repositories, Open Connections: Case Studies in Open Source Repository Integrations
Description
This presentation will examine how open repository infrastructure development communities can engage with open source initiatives and communities to build these meaningful connections and continue to respond to the needs of its users. It will focus particularly on integrations with open source initiatives such as OPERAS, showing how repositories can easily manage metrics collection and aggregation in a transparent and understandable manner to benefit the institution, its contributors, and its users; integrating ORCID into repositories to provide a gateway into the full work and research of authors even when not deposited in the repository; linkages to Open Journals Systems for the long term preservation and presentation of open access scholarly journals; and integrations with Learning Management Systems using OAI-PMH to heighten discovery. Brief supporting case studies will be provided.
