34. Cocconeiopsis orthoneoides (Hustedt) Witkowski, Lange-Bertalot & Metzeltin (Fig. 78)
Basionym: Navicula orthoneoides Hustedt.
Type locality: Beaufort, North Carolina.

Morphometrics: Valves 26–29 (23–37, 43) μm long, 18–20 (16–27) μm wide, transapical striae 17–20 (13–22) in 10 μm, puncta on a stria 14–16 in 10 μm.
Remarks: Cocconeiopsis orthoneoides is distributed in marine littoral zones, frequently along the coasts of warmer oceans, especially Indian Ocean and Thailand (Witkowski et al. 2000). It has been reported from mangrove lagoons of the Baja California Peninsula in Mexico (Lopez-Fuerte et al. 2010; Siqueiros-Beltrones et al. 2011), and the coasts of southern Brazil (Garcia & Dutra 2013). Although rarely reported, it is a taxon that grows in warmer oceans. It was found less frequently on the sandy beaches of the Seogwipo coast, and is new to South Korea.
