Description

The project "Laguna: Open Informational Infrastructure for a scientific data lake" aims to establish a Brazilian data lake infrastructure that contains data from open ST&I sources in various formats and with varying levels of treatment, analysis, recovery, and visualization. The project is being coordinated by the Instituto Brasileiro de Informação em Ciência e Tecnologia (IBICT) in partnership with four Brazilian federal higher education institutions. The infrastructure utilizes a data lake model, which is a large centralized repository that can store structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data of any size, collected from sources in accordance with FAIR principles. The data processing model used will consist of seven levels, split between management layers and access layers. A semantic model according to international standards will be used, compatible with representations used in similar systems in other countries, aiming to achieve advanced levels of interoperability.
