Description

A 25 minute presentation describing my work with declarative analyses. I relate the work I've done on LINQTOTTree, a LINQ back end for the C# language. LINQ specifies what we want to do with the data (require the track with pT>1 GeV closest to the jet axis to be less than delta R of 0.3 away), but not how to do it. A back end translates this into C++ and then runs it on ROOT files. This has been used for two public ATLAS analyses. I describe the design of the system and my experiences with it. It was given at a HSF workshop in Amsterdam, where discussions are underway exploring how the HEP community should approach the data from the HL LHC.
