Bombus (Pyrobombus) melanopygus Nylander, 1848
Counties: Cook, Lake of the Woods, Saint Louis.
Comments: Historically this species was known in Minnesota from two specimens collected in 1939 and 1940 in Cook County. More recently, surveys from the MNDNR and observations from Tony Ernst and other community scientists on iNaturalist have greatly expanded the known range of this species in Minnesota, with recent records from Cook County (iNaturalist), Lake of the Woods County (MNDNR), and Saint Louis County (MNDNR and iNaturalist).
