(Asteraceae) in Philipp. J. Sci. 21(4): 355. 1922.
TYPE:— CHINA. Hainan: Wuzhishan, Wuzhi Shan, alt. 750 m, 21 December 1921, F. A. McClure 2134 (i.e. Canton Christian College Herbarium 8588) (syntype: PNH, destroyed, A 00008618 image!, NY 00178883 image!).
Merrill (1922a) validly published the name Gynura maclurei Merr. with only one gathering, McClure 8588, cited in the protologue. However, the collecting number on the label of the syntype specimen exists in A is 2134, while its herbarium number is Canton Christian College Herbarium 8588.Therefore, the erroneous collecting number is to be corrected.
