Description

Genus Hoplopeza Bezzi

Type species: Hoplopeza chloropa Bezzi, 1909 (by monotypy).

Hoplopeza Bezzi, 1909: 385 (original description); Melander 1928: 70 (diagnosis); Collin 1933: 8 (key to Ocydromiinae), 47 (citation); Smith 1967: 16 (catalogue); Rafael 1995: 751 (redescription of Hoplopeza chloropa); Sinclair & Cumming 2000: 182 (key to Southern Hemisphere Ocydromiini); Ale-Rocha 2007: 410 (key to Neotropical genera of Ocydromiinae).

Diagnosis. Antenna inserted above the middle of the head, postpedicel lanceolate; eyes meeting on frons. Two veins arising from cell dm; anal lobe not developed; Rs short, arising near apex of cell br; CuA vein evanescent, not reaching CuP vein. Hind tibia with spur-like anteroapical setae. Epandrium with row of spine-like setae on inner right margin.

Geographical distribution. Andean (Colombia, Chile, and Peru) and Australasian Regions (Australia).
