Walsternoplus Allsopp, Jákl & Rey, new replacement name for Sternoplus Wallace, 1867

Sternoplus Wallace, 1867: xcvii (Arthropoda: Insecta: Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Cetoniinae: Cetoniini: Cetoniina); nec Sternoplus Mulsant & Rey, 1864: 263 (Ptinidae: Anobiinae; junior synonym of Xyletinus Latreille, 1809). Type species Cetonia (Protaetia) schaumii White, 1856, by original designation.

Etymology. The name combines the first syllable of Wallace’s name with his generic name. It is masculine in gender.
