Description

The airborne geophysical exploration environment is continuously changing, whether as a result of economic circumstances, efficiency improvements or of technical advancements. The TEMPEST Fixed Wing Electromagnetic Sensing platform undergoes continuous development to meet these requirements in order to remain a leading fixed wing electromagnetic technology for regional and detailed airborne surveys around the world as is testified by the ongoing surveys being done for both the GA and the USGS. Major changes have included the aircraft platform on which the system is based, whilst behind the scenes, far more subtle changes have included the transmitter, receiver, and acquisition systems design, thereby improving depth of investigation and near surface resolution. A commitment has been made to construct additional TEMPEST systems to cater for industry demand. With the advent of additional systems, tests and upgrades of new technologies would reduce the time to market of these upgrades. Recent improvements have included, but are not limited to: Increasing the effective bandwidth of the system, which has had an impact on the transmitter, receiver and acquisition systems, Flexibility in operation of the system, Development and improvement of processing algorithms and processes.
