Description
Dissertation submitted at the University of Southern Queensland for the partial completion of Master of Science (Astrophysics). In this piece of work, I analyse data captured by the Breakthrough Listen Initiative using the Parkes Murriyang Radio Telescope (Australia, NSW) for narrowband (~1Hz) drifting signals (+/- 0.1 - 4.0) between frequencies of 704 - 4032 MHz inclusive. This involved the use and modification of a python-based SETI search algorithm called turboSETI, available at https://github.com/UCBerkeleySETI/turbo_seti.
This work also explores mutual detectability and Schelling points for the detection of artificial signals that may signify the presence of Extraterrestial Intelligence.
