Type locality. Venezuela, [Aragua], Aroa.
Type specimen. Lectotype ♁ no. 11043 designated by Watson (1971: 95) (USNM).
Taxonomic references. Schaus (1894), Rothschild (1916), Hampson (1920), Watson (1975), Watson & Goodger (1986) and Vincent & Laguerre (2014).
Material examined. Brazil, Maranhão: Açailândia, 4°57'14.17"S / 47°30'11.08"W. Light traps, 19–27.xi.1990, V.O. Becker legit, 4 specimens (VOB).
