Ornithoponus intertropicus of authors (misidentification): Johnson 1924: 91 [records]; Curran 1932: 366 [record].

Distribution. Native. Cosmopolitan; Galápagos: Fernandina, Genovesa, Santa Cruz, Santiago, Seymour.

Remarks. This species is primarily a parasite of wading birds (Ciconiiformes), especially herons (Bequaert 1933).
