Kholosi Dictionary

  • 1. Georgetown University

Description

Kholosi is an Indo-Aryan language of Hormozgan, Iran. Many centuries ago, the earliest Kholosi speakers came to Iran from India and settled there in the villages of Kholos and Gotav. They preserved their original language but also melded influences from Persian, Achomi, Balochi, and Gulf Arabic. This dictionary is the first linguistic analysis of Kholosi vocabulary, dedicated to the Kholosi community. I owe my friend Ahmed Etebari the greatest thanks in helping compile this.
