Caligula, der Pegasus und das Wunderkind. Zu einem frühneuzeitlichen Aureus mit der Legende VICTORIA DE GERM

Publication of an early modern imitation of an aureus with the portrait and legend of emperor Caligula on the obverse and Pegasus on the reverse. The type seems to have been created in the 17th or at the beginning of the 18th century. A bronze coin of the same type was published in 1739 by the child prodigy Jean-Philippe Baratier (1721‒1740), in an article entitled 'Historische Betrachtung über eine besondere Müntze des Käysers C. Caligulae'.
