Notes

Somaliland's past and present images are diametrically opposed. Somaliland's previous image was one of peace, political stability, social, economic, and political development, and a vision of a beautiful national future, whereas its current image is one of lethal political conflict and formless politics, economic collapse, social division, and war. The war in Lasanod is a clear example of how Somaliland is falling apart. It is the first of several great disasters that will likely cause Somaliland to collapse unless the government adopts new strategies and changes its response to the Lasanod crisis and opposition.
